Gizmodo, where kids gossip on next years garbage

20 Apr

I must admit that I waste an awe-full lot of time on the internets, the web sites to be blamed for this are not so many, youtube, engadget, reddit, aljazeera, dawn.com, etc …

But one web site which I just stopped visiting after I realized that it was run by 16 year olds was gizmodo, the reasons were because they publish too much of apple specific stuff and … well, they sound so immature and most of their posts are kind of idiotic. But they just did another stupid thing recently, and since i dont go their any more, I found about this from reddit

So right now the top two links on reddit are about this, the other link is this

Any ways, back to the point now. I have realized that the best way to stop wasting time on these gadget blogs is just by realizing that life is just too short to waste.

ps: google facebrick if you have a nokia n900, its powered by qfacebookconnect :)

The iPhone OS 4.0 Agreement stink.

10 Apr

So the internets are abuzz with the news that the new iphone os 4.0 developer agreement prohibits using any non apple endorsed programming language, framework for iphone/ipad development. This is hardly any thing surprising, given the way apple has been acting ever since jobs came back in control. When they were irrelevant they didn’t have the power to make any rules, now that they have a good market share, they are showing it. It almost feels like a kid who lost a game in his teens taking revenge in his 50′s.

Some people are comparing this with the Window Phone 7 Series and how its limited to .NET and C#, well that’s not exactly the same thing, Windows Phone 7 has no market share as of now, it will be coming to market in the late 2010. Microsoft sets this standard before they have any kind of market share, and besides any language ( php, vb, python ) can be used to create CLR code and that can be used for making apps on wp7 ( yet ).

But I believe apple has every right to do what it is doing. It might be good for the company, but sad for most of the developers. I myself was looking at monotouch as a tool for doing apps for iphone, but I went with objective c instead, it was not that difficult to learn and I think if you are a good c++ programmer objective c would be a piece of cake to learn, in two or three days. Monothouch is also just too expensive in my opinion.

However, like google has said earlier and I believe it myself that webapps are the future way of doing apps. Phonegap for example is an awesome project and it has a lot of potential, what we need now is standardization of web apps / javascripts apis. W3C for example has now standardized the Geolocation api, I think we need similar standard apis for example to access the phone book, sensors etc ….

Nokia should enable third party developers to submit apps to ovi store.

11 Dec

Nokia should get its act in order if it seriously wants to compete with google & apple. One big thing that I dislike about Symbian and Maemo phones is the inability of independent developers to make money out of it. This is where apple has succeeded and might be one of the big reasons iphone has been so successful.

Take symbian, I can not even afford to get my applications signed for distribution[1], it adds up to 300 euros every year just for administration fees then further more money when you submit an application, and every times it is tested, which can easily cost you hundreds, this is just too much, sorry I am not buying.

For Maemo, well, there is no ovi store, yet! but what does it cost to install applications on the Nokia N900? so i did some searching and it seems[2] maemo uses the standard debian debs, and using debsign is enough and you don’t have to pay any one, much like android. So this would mean once the ovi store is launched for the N900, it could be a good option since Qt is now available for maemo as well. However the mentality of the average user of maemo will be that of a hacker and I am afraid they might not pay money unless the software is extremely good, in other words they are not idiots like most of the iphone users.

But since Symbian has the most install base Nokia should get more developers onboard by making it easier, it just costs too much right now.

Idiotti!

23 Nov

Just look at these bunch of hypocrites : A storm is brewing at Best Buy. They have killed so many species to extinction ( whale, dolphins, tuna, etc etc … ) and yet they have problems with Muslim festival of Eid Al-Adha. May be they should stop eating meat as it does not grow on trees, you have to kill an animal to get meat, and USA might be the biggest consumer of meat.

This is just racism/hatred against Muslims.

Apple hits back at Verizon in new iPhone ads (video) — Engadget

23 Nov

I often think that Apple’s marketing team or may be the whole Apple company are a bunch of gay guys who are always looking at the mirror. I am saying this because I am so pissed at Apple, my macbook the piece of shit broke down last week, the audio doesn’t work any more and its also coming apart. My sub 500$ acer was longer lasting than that 1000$ piece of crap.

Now they come up with this stupid shit: Apple hits back at Verizon in new iPhone ads (video) — Engadget. WTF ? my 100$ phone has been able to do that since 2006, bunch of idiots.

Macintosh and Fanboys, a blind faith.

31 May

It seems that Apple and its fanboy have blind faith in themselves and every thing that Apple makes, they just dont want to admit that many of the products that they produce are idiotic and that there are many flaws in their environments, in their closed garden models.

For starters the mac keyboards dont have a home or end key, which is frustrating and if you dont admit it then you are just lying. Who came up with the idea of Home and End keys on a keyboard ? was it someone form Microsoft or did it exist before ? having to press two keys to get the action of home key wont cut it.

I never really thought much about the iphone app store and the tight control that apple has over developing applications for iphone or ipod until I applied for the apple developer program and it took too long for them to respond, they didnt reject me but  i just got frustrated that I cant even develop an application for myself, for a device which i paid 230 f..ing euros for. So infact apple if they choose so can lock out a particular developer or company from writing applications for iphone, and with iphone market share growing so much i wonder if this is anti competetive behaviour, seeems like what Microsoft did with IE but atleast they didnt stop people from publishing applications for Windows. Apple is getting evil more and more, money makes people evil. Imagine what apple would be like if they had more then 2% of desktop computer market, that is very scary.

So this is a relgion now, apple, a blind faith.

*this is just an experiment to see how many visitors does an apple bashing post attract*

if you were here because of that apple bashing, please relax. go outside and take a walk, go to movies with your girlfriend or what ever, relax. :)

I dont care much about apple, microsoft or linux. i use them all.

Firefox annoyance: #1 the user is stupid and ignorant

27 Sep

With firefox if I go to a https web page that has a bad or expired certificate then you are greeted with a set of annoying screens by firefox which only state one purpose, which is that you are stupid and you dont know what you are doing, and might as well stop using your brain.

Step #1

Step #2

Step #3

Step #4

I am not stupid and I know what I am doing, do what IE does:

what internet explorer does is more user friend and serves the purpose well as well

it does the job without making me feel stupid and frustrated/annoyed.
